Hometree Woodland Installation: 10x15m Q Tents Stretch Tent in Ireland

We recently completed a permanent 10x15m Q Tents stretch tent installation for Hometree, an Irish environmental charity dedicated to restoring native woodland, biodiversity and deeper connections between people and nature across Ireland.

Installed within a natural woodland setting, this stretch tent and full Q Tents wall system will provide a flexible outdoor space for education, workshops, community gatherings and conservation projects throughout the year.

This project is a great example of how stretch tents can be used far beyond weddings and events, creating practical and visually striking outdoor spaces that work in harmony with the surrounding environment.

Supporting Hometree’s Mission in Ireland

Hometree is an organisation focused on establishing and conserving permanent native woodland across Ireland through afforestation, restoration and education.

Ireland was once covered by vast native forests, with up to 80% of the country made up of wildwood. Today, just over 1% of that original forest remains.

Hometree is working to reverse this through large-scale tree planting, habitat restoration and community engagement.

Since beginning in 2014, Hometree has planted more than 30,000 pioneer trees including alder, willow and Scots pine, while also developing projects that reconnect people with the natural landscape.

Their work now extends beyond tree planting into education, biodiversity protection and environmental stewardship, partnering with both local communities and international organisations to support long-term ecological restoration in Ireland.

A Permanent Stretch Tent Installation Designed for Year-Round Use

For this project, Hometree required a durable outdoor structure that would provide shelter while still maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding woodland environment.

We supplied and installed:

  • A 10x15m premium Q Tents stretch tent

  • The full Q Tents wall system

  • A layout designed for long-term outdoor use in Irish weather conditions

The enclosed wall system allows the structure to be used comfortably throughout the year for:

  • Outdoor education

  • Workshops and training

  • Community events

  • Conservation projects

  • Gathering and meeting spaces

Unlike traditional structures, the stretch tent creates a more open and natural atmosphere, making it ideal for woodland and environmental settings.

Why Stretch Tents Work So Well in Natural Environments

Stretch tents are becoming increasingly popular for conservation projects, eco-tourism spaces, wellness retreats and outdoor education centres across Ireland.

Their flexible design allows them to integrate naturally into woodland, countryside and coastal locations without the heavy visual impact of permanent buildings.

Key benefits include:

  • Flexible layouts for changing uses

  • Minimal disruption to surrounding spaces

  • Weather protection from Irish rain and wind

  • Open and welcoming community environments

  • Modern and visually striking design

For organisations focused on sustainability and connection to nature, stretch tents provide a practical solution while still preserving the atmosphere of the landscape around them.

Working with the Q Tents Wall System

This installation included the full Q Tents wall system, creating a more enclosed and weather-resistant structure suitable for long-term use.

The wall system provides:

  • Additional protection from wind and rain

  • Improved comfort during colder months

  • Greater flexibility for events and workshops

  • A multi-purpose outdoor environment that can adapt throughout the seasons

Combined with the natural flexibility of the stretch tent itself, the result is a structure that works equally well for educational activities, gatherings and community projects.

Stretch Tents for Community, Education & Conservation Projects

While stretch tents are widely used for weddings, festivals and hospitality venues, projects like this highlight their potential for community and environmental use.

Across Ireland, stretch tents are now being used for:

  • Outdoor classrooms

  • Conservation projects

  • Eco-tourism and retreat spaces

  • Community gathering areas

  • Wellness and nature-focused events

  • Sustainable hospitality environments

Their adaptability allows organisations to create inspiring outdoor spaces while maintaining a close connection to the natural environment.

At Stretch Tents Ireland, we provide both temporary and permanent stretch tent installations across Cork and nationwide.

We work with:

  • Environmental and community organisations

Our installations can be found across Cork, Kerry, Galway, Dublin and throughout Ireland, delivering flexible outdoor spaces designed for long-term use and Irish weather conditions.

A Project That Reflects the Future of Outdoor Spaces

This Hometree installation is a great example of how outdoor structures are evolving beyond traditional event use.

As more organisations focus on sustainability, outdoor learning and community engagement, stretch tents are becoming a practical and visually appealing solution for creating flexible spaces that work alongside the natural environment rather than against it.

We’re proud to support organisations like Hometree and their mission to restore Ireland’s native woodlands while creating meaningful connections between people and nature.
